“Decadent Western Haircuts” Banned in Iran

The Mullet…but the Elvis-style Quiff is still allowed.

I noticed on ScottishLegal today that Iranian Police have been instructed to enforce a new ban on the Mullet as it is a “Decadent Western Haircut”.  Sported by the likes of David Bowie and Paul McCartney, the often ridiculed hairstyle has been consigned to a ban list which also includes ponytails and spiked hair.

Jaleh Khodaya, who organised a government-approved hairdressing show in Tehran, said: “The proposed styles are inspired by Iranians’ complexion, culture and religion, and Islamic law.

So, any legal professionals with a penchant for slightly retro (ancient) styles, make sure to join the 21st century if you plan on visiting Iran!
